What is the Camptown Hat Company?

We are a small dealer of “semi-custom” hats, meaning that our basic hat is built to our specifications in partnership with a well respected commercial hatter, which is what let’s us get the grade of felt that we use and make it available to you for a more attainable price. Our hatter open crown blocks the hat, performs the basic polishing of the felt, precisely installs the ventilated band and ribbon, and then installs the liner

Once completed, you my friends, can choose:

  1. To purchase our hats unshaped (but with our meticulous instructions included) and enjoy the process of making your hat as you like it on your own, or
  2. Have us (read Me!) hand style your hat, cutting the brim, shaping the crown, etc. (click here for styling options) and get it to you ready to place upon your head for a night on the town or a day in the field.

All of the hats, styled or open, are inspected by me, hand brushed and packaged with two thicknesses of sizing tape, the Camptown Letter and Instruction Sheet, and a little “gift” in the very durable hat box in which you can store your hat for the duration.

I am committed to bringing the Fedora out of the showpiece or novelty world and returning it to the world of daily wear. After all, what good is a high end hat that you are afraid to wear for fear of ruining it?

You need not be afraid to wear your Camptown in rain, snow or other unpleasantness. It is built to be worn. Used. Lived in.

With regular care, (brushing, cleaning of various bits of crud, a little rain repellent, etc.) your Camptown will last for many years and look great.

If you still want a showpiece, then perhaps you could take up collecting art. Or antique furniture. Or maybe cigar store Indians!

Your Camptown Hat is Guaranteed against all defects of workmanship for one year. If you request styling on your hat, I will still guarantee it for one year from date of purchase.
